Marty Morgan Comedian

Marty Morgan has been practicing comedy for over 50 years. A few years into his career he learnt to talk and soon after, took his hobby to school. Presented with the challenge of pursuing both academic excellence & comedic glory, he didn’t.

While his early material is still relevant today, it has rarely been heard since he swore off baked beans.

Marty claims that when he did his first booked comedy spot, in 2009, it was to overcome his fear of public speaking, but that’s not entirely true. He was only terrified if he was the one speaking.  It was also limited to planned speeches.  He’s always been happy to shout out uncalled-for comments from the back of the room.

He has been diagnosed as a socially anxious extrovert, with a tendency to self-diagnose.

Marty will find something funny to say in most situations. This has led to countless invitations to shut up. One of his earliest successes behind the mic was at his grandmother’s funeral.  Sadly, it was a one-off gig.

Like playing a sport or a musical instrument, comedy is a passion, but it’s also a craft.  After nearly a decade of honing his comedy-writing and performing, Marty has a wealth of material, and material wealth beneath his mildest dreams.  He is at home on stage enough to ad-lib, or read a book.  He is comfortable in his own skin, having recently lost 6 kilos.

Based in Sydney, Marty has performed at and MCed comedy nights from the Gold Coast to Wollongong and has had several one-man shows at The Sydney Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.  Throughout his career, he has stayed true to himself. He has never sold out.

Marty’s comedy includes storytelling, wordplay, one liners, and nonsense. His gags are liable to end up anywhere, especially when he’s driving.
